APPARATUS, the New York design studio, has opened the New York exhibition of ACT V: AFSANEH at 124 West 30th Street in Chelsea. The show went on view on October 5, and the studio announced it on its official Instagram account as now open.
The presentation brings together two series from the collection, Esfand and Gol. A third, the Rahvi series, is on view in both London and New York. The collection is due to be unveiled in London the following week, so the same body of work appears in two cities in turn.
APPARATUS is known for lighting, furniture and objects, and it releases its work in chapters. ACT V is the fifth of those. Seeing the pieces in a physical space matters here: the surfaces, materials and finish of lighting and objects rarely come across in photographs.
The address sits along West 30th Street, within walking distance of Hudson Yards and the High Line, which makes it an easy stop on a gallery walk or a stroll through the neighborhood. For anyone with an interest in contemporary design, it is a chance to see a new collection in person.
