Alfredo Jaar: A Logo for America, 1987
On view · Sep 10 – Oct 24
Chilean-born artist Alfredo Jaar revisits his 1987 Times Square animation, made for the Public Art Fund, which questioned the habit of using "America" to mean only the United States. The gallery shows a newly digitized version at large scale, storyboard drawings displayed publicly for the first time, and photographs, lightboxes and videos tracing the work's later lives, including a Miami Beach barge presentation. It runs through October 24.
