Mexican artist Teresa Margolles, trained in forensic pathology and photography, gets her first large-scale US museum exhibition, shown with a companion presentation at MoMA. Room-sized installations and a new commission address violence along the US-Mexico border, disappearance and loss. The centerpiece, La promesa, is a barrier built from 14 tons of rubble taken from an abandoned house in Ciudad Juárez; it is activated daily at 3 p.m.
