Ross Bleckner, born in Brooklyn in 1949, shows new oil paintings at Petzel in Chelsea, his fourth solo show with the gallery. He builds each canvas from a long-accumulated archive of found and personal photographs, letting one painting suggest the next. Works such as Medicine Cabinet, Where Is My Body and The Dancers hover between anatomy, molecular structure and moving figures, never settling on a single image. On view through October 24.
