Coumba Samba: Stars and Stripes
On view · Sep 19 – Jan 18

Coumba Samba (b. 2000) presents sculptures modeled on depleted uranium shells, painted in the flag colors of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Namibia, Niger, and the United States. Using the geometry of modernist abstraction, the installation links uranium extraction to military power and to colonial-era patterns of resource ownership. It sits on Floor 1 of the Whitney and runs through January 18, 2027.
