Acne Studios is closing out its 30th-anniversary year with a collaboration that looks backward and sideways at once. The Stockholm-born house has teamed up with London-based designer Hussein Chalayan on a 12-piece capsule, framed as an ode to three decades of denim heritage. The through-line is Chalayan's conceptual approach: transformation, regeneration and experimental construction.

The pieces rework designs from his spring/summer 2001, 2002 and 2003 collections, rebuilt in Acne's denim, jersey and leather. Expect patchwork jeans ($1,100), a patchwork denim shirt ($1,400), an asymmetrical denim vest ($1,100) and matching mini dress ($1,400), a layered cotton mini dress in white or navy/black ($750), and twisted python-print jeans ($1,000).

The headline accessory is a reworked Camero camera bag in trompe l'oeil patchworked denim leather, at $3,200. The campaign was photographed at London's V&A East Storehouse, where select Chalayan garments are held in the permanent collection.

A limited book, Reference: Hussein Chalayan, is printed in an edition of 1,000 copies. The capsule is sold on acnestudios.com and at select boutiques. In New York, the site lists stock at the Greene Street and Meatpacking stores. Sizes run from XXXS to XXL, plus one-size accessories.
