Yuan Yuan
On view · Sep 9 – Oct 24
Yuan Yuan makes his first U.S. solo appearance with new paintings at Bortolami's upstairs space. Working wet-on-wet, he layers manmade landscapes, water, and sea creatures with scenes from Asian cities and echoes of Western art history. Fine detail meets loose, gestural strokes, and the surfaces appear almost fluid, so forms emerge and dissolve as you approach. The show dwells on memory, place, and time slipping out of focus.
