Norr Cohan pairs paintings by Chaïm Soutine (1893–1943) with new work by Brooklyn-based Ilana Savdie (b. 1986), artists separated by about a century. The gallery frames both as painters for whom unstable bodies and shifting form drive the work, using saturated color, broken contour and deliberate distortion to favor sensation over likeness. The show is presented as the first time their work has been seen together. It runs through October 24.
