Bar Susanne Opens a Riverfront Raw Bar in Williamsburg

Bar Susanne has opened at 6 River Street on the Williamsburg waterfront. It is a raw bar, cocktail bar and restaurant built around local seafood, and its website describes it simply as a riverfront raw bar that is also "a pretty good time."

The menu draws on seafood from New York waters, from pickled mussels to razor clam ceviche. On the drinks side, the bar pours briny martinis and low-ABV spritzers, a pairing that suits oysters and ceviche and works for a lighter evening out.

Bar Susanne is open Tuesday through Friday from 5 to 11 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., so weekends allow for a late lunch by the water. Reservations are taken through OpenTable, and the website also has a way to inquire about private events.

Next door at 8 River Street is its sister spot, Cafe Susanne, open Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. It serves coffee and cocktails, so you can start the day there and return to the bar for seafood and drinks later. Together the two add a pair of easy stops along the Williamsburg riverfront.
