Ghostbusters in Concert at United Palace

On Saturday, October 17, United Palace in Washington Heights presents Ghostbusters in Concert. The 1984 comedy plays on a large HD screen while a live orchestra performs Elmer Bernstein's score, so the music that shaped the film's mix of comedy and spookiness is played in the room, in step with the dialogue and action on screen.

Doors open at 6:30pm and the movie starts at 8pm. Tickets start at $29 and are sold through the United Palace ticketing page.

The venue is at 4140 Broadway at 175th Street, a theater that bills itself as Manhattan's fourth largest. It sits well uptown from the usual Midtown screening rooms, and the ornate building is part of the draw. The theater's website also lists getting-here information, nearby places to eat, house rules, prohibited items and accessibility details for visitors planning an evening around the show.

It suits anyone who grew up with the film and wants to see it in a different format from a standard cinema, as well as families and friends looking for a movie night with live music. With the date only days away, anyone planning to go should secure seats soon.
