New Balance x Aminé 992 Made in USA at Nepenthes New York

Nepenthes New York presented the New Balance x Aminé 992 Made in USA as a special release. It went on sale Friday, October 9, in store and online, with a limit of one pair per customer.

The concept comes from Aminé's childhood experience at Oregon's Outdoor School, and from the kind of education that only comes from exploring nature firsthand. He turned that memory into materials and color. The upper is a smooth brown pigskin suede meant to evoke dirt and soil. Over it sit shiny patent leather overlays in burgundy and dark maroon, which suggest wood, worms, rocks and foliage. The contrast between matte suede and glossy patent is the pair's defining feature.

The personal touches continue off the shoe. The hangtag is a "wood cookie," a slice of tree trunk, and the packaging is themed after a tackle box.

The 992 is one of the best-known models in New Balance's Made in USA line, and this earthy palette suits autumn dressing. Nepenthes New York, which carries Japanese-rooted menswear and collaborations, is on West 38th Street in Midtown. The store announced the release on its official Instagram.
