Nordstrom Marks 125 Years in NYC With a Sacai Capsule and a Ghetto Gastro Dinner

Nordstrom marked its 125th anniversary on October 22 with an intimate dinner built around its partnership with sacai. According to the retailer's Instagram, sacai founder and creative director Chitose Abe and Nordstrom EVP of Global Brand Partnerships Yumi Shin toasted the occasion and an exclusive 12-piece women's capsule collection made for the store.

The capsule is now available and on view at Nordstrom NYC. In a separate post, the company also showed sacai tweed from the Women's Autumn/Winter 2026 collection, in a texture-focused shoot photographed by Ethan James Green and styled by Dara.

The dinner menu came from Ghetto Gastro, the New York food and culture collective, which cooked at its new studio in the WSA Building. The evening paired fashion and food in a small setting rather than a large party.

The sacai dinner is one of several anniversary projects. On October 28, Nordstrom introduced the Stone Island N125 edition, a fishtail parka limited to 18 pieces. Each is dyed in a resin bath, which gives the fabric a textured finish that differs from piece to piece. A tag inside reads "Specially made for Nordstrom, celebrating 125 years."

Barbour also took part. Select styles use a custom tartan inspired by Nordstrom's Seattle roots, created for the anniversary and sold at the store now.

For Japanese readers, the notable point is a Tokyo-founded label getting an exclusive capsule at the center of a major American department store's milestone year. Abe's collection is the one on view in New York.

Nordstrom NYC is the retailer's Manhattan store at 225 W 57th St. The sacai capsule is available there alongside the other 125th-anniversary pieces.
