Nepenthes New York has released two new Needles collaborations as a special release, available now in store and online since October 4.

The first is the "Souvenir Jacket," Needles' first-ever collaboration with Tailor Toyo. It starts from a US Navy jacket, which Needles has reworked with its own design touches. The body is wool, and the brand's signature butterfly, the "papillon," sits boldly across the back. Embroidery on the jacket depicts the cities Needles has visited for its visual shoots, a nod to the souvenir-jacket tradition.

The second is a Hawaiian shirt made with Sun Surf. Sun Surf is known for its rayon Hawaiian shirts, and this version is cut in flannel, a better fit for autumn and winter. At Needles' request, two butterfly-motif patterns were pulled from Sun Surf's extensive archive, so each colorway carries a different design.

The campaign visuals for the collection feature actor Kenichi Takito as the model.

The shop is on West 38th Street in Midtown. Seeing the wool, the embroidery and the flannel prints in person is the best way to choose, and the same pieces can be bought online for anyone who can't stop by. For Japanese-brand followers in New York, it's a convenient local chance to pick up two pieces that reinterpret military and Hawaiian heritage for the colder months.
