A Haunting, an art market devoted to the horror genre, holds its first edition, A Haunting in Industry City, on Saturday, October 17. It takes place in the Barrow's Intense NY tasting room inside Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, from noon to 6pm.
Twenty vendors are on the lineup, selling art, stickers, apparel and other handmade goods. Since this debut market is themed around everything horror, it should suit anyone who likes dark, offbeat design and prefers to buy directly from the people who made it.
Shopping is only part of the day. The organizers are running a raffle and a costume contest, and visitors can play Peek a Boo Bingo, their own take on the classic game. With Halloween around the corner, dressing up is a natural way to join in.
The first 50 RSVPs to arrive receive a free Haunting zine. It covers the market and its vendors, along with horror media and the genre more broadly, and comes with a small photo card.
The event is organized through Partiful, where 352 guests are listed as going and 45 as maybe. Industry City sits on the southwest Brooklyn waterfront and is reachable from Manhattan by subway, which makes this an easy afternoon trip for horror fans and for anyone hunting for handmade, Halloween-minded gifts and keepsakes.
