St. Patrick's Cathedral, one of Midtown's best-known landmarks, is the setting for LUMINISCENCE, an immersive sound-and-light show. The production uses the cathedral's architecture as its canvas, projecting illuminated visuals across it.

The show's official site describes it as a chance to dive into the legend of sacred monuments through a spectacular immersive experience. Its billing highlights three things: 360° projections, a setting inside a sacred monument, and live music.

New York is one stop on a much larger run. LUMINISCENCE is currently listed in Orléans, Lille and Lyon in France, Seville in Spain, Paderborn in Germany, Utrecht in the Netherlands, London, and the US cities of Philadelphia and Sacramento, alongside New York. Earlier editions took place in places such as Barcelona, Brussels, Minneapolis and São Paulo. The production comes from Lotchi and is powered by Fever.

Tickets for the New York edition are on sale through the official site. The cathedral sits on Fifth Avenue in Midtown, so it is easy to fold into a day of sightseeing or shopping. For visitors who know the building as a place of worship and a tourist stop, the show offers a different look at it, and it should appeal to architecture fans and anyone seeking a fresh angle on a familiar New York landmark.
