On Saturday, October 17, United Palace in Washington Heights hosted Ghostbusters in Concert. The 1984 comedy played on a giant HD screen while a live orchestra performed the film's score in the room.

Doors opened at 6:30pm and the show began at 8pm. With the music played live, dialogue, sound effects and score come together differently than they do in an ordinary cinema.

The venue sits at 4140 Broadway at 175th Street and calls itself Manhattan's fourth largest theatre. It programs concerts, film screenings and other events, and it is a short distance from the 175th Street subway station.

Film-and-music programming continues on the calendar. Upcoming listings include a screening of 9 to 5 (1980) on November 22, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) on December 6, and Sonic Live in Concert on March 6.

Tickets for United Palace events are sold through links on the theatre's website.
