House of Flies: A Nu-Metal and Metalcore Halloween Party at Secret Pour

House of Flies is a Halloween party from Nü Girl Order, a women-focused collective built around a shared love of heavy music and alt style. It runs Saturday, October 17, from 8pm to 2am at Secret Pour in Bushwick. Entry is free, and the night is produced together with Trash Cherry NYC.

The music centers on nu metal, alt-metal and metalcore, plus heavy cuts from 2000s horror movie soundtracks. DJ Nü Dez is behind the decks with a playlist curated for the night.

The dress code is "horror baddies." Suggested looks include Jennifer Check from Jennifer's Body, Queen Akasha from Queen of the Damned, Nancy Downs from The Craft, "Freaky" Nikki from Obsession, and Maxine Minx or Pearl from X and Pearl. The event page also links a costume inspiration board.

Inside, expect alt accessory vendors, live tarot readings and Nü Girl Order merchandise. A raffle gives away three One Wish Willows. Drag performer Corma Kelley hosts and has a surprise drag show or two planned. Vendors take CashApp, Venmo, PayPal and cash, with cash preferred. Tips for the drag performers are cash only.

The space is women-focused, but everyone is welcome as long as they respect the venue and the people around them. The RSVP list on Partiful shows 82 spots, and all of them are listed as taken.
