New York Classical Players (NYCP) presents "Brahms & Puts," an orchestral program of its 17th season, from Nov. 5 to 8. The nonprofit, led by music director Dongmin Kim, stages free-admission concerts built around artistic excellence.
The program pairs Larsson's concertino for double bass, Kevin Puts's Credo and Brahms's double concerto. The orchestra describes the evening as one of clarity, inward reflection and emotional breadth.
This week's venues span the city. Thursday, Nov. 5 is at Flushing Town Hall in Queens. Friday, Nov. 6 is at the Church of St. Luke + St. Matthew in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Saturday, Nov. 7 is at W3 Auditorium. The season page also lists a performance in Norwood, New Jersey.
Admission is free, which makes this an easy way to hear a full orchestra without planning around ticket prices. Flushing and Clinton Hill are both well-served neighborhoods, so you can pick the night and location that suit you.
NYCP's season continues with Handel's Messiah in a chamber orchestra setting (Dec. 4–6), a multi-concert Beethoven string quartet series, and programs of Elgar, Beethoven, Copland and Haydn into May 2027.
