On the Lower East Side, NYC: Figma x Sanrio Hello Kitty Photobooth at Old Friend

Figma, the design platform, and Sanrio are marking Hello Kitty's birthday with their first-ever collaboration. One piece of it is on the Lower East Side: the Old Friend photobooth at 145 Allen Street is handing out a free Figma and Sanrio-themed photostrip on Nov. 6 and 7, from 10 am to 10 pm ET.

The booth works as a lead-in to a weekend party near Union Square. Along with the photostrip, visitors get an invitation to the pop-up, which runs Nov. 7–8, 10 am to 6 pm, at 12 East 14th Street. Entry is first come, first served.

At the pop-up, a green Hello Kitty and Friends truck serves matcha and strawberry milk. Inside, guests collect a mystery character keychain, customize it at a charm bar and pose for a photo with it. The first 150 visitors each day also receive a limited-edition sweatshirt and patches.

The collaboration extends online. Through Nov. 8, FigJam users can pick from 12 Sanrio characters, including Hello Kitty, Pochacco, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll and Pompompurin, which change the cursors, washi tape, sticky notes and selfie frames. The Figma Community adds themed profiles, a playground file, coloring pages and a Figma Slides template.

Tearaway posters around the city offer another keepsake, and more than 60 themed meetups are planned in cities and on campuses worldwide. For Sanrio fans in New York, the photobooth is a free, quick stop.
