Neue Galerie New York, the museum devoted to early-20th-century Austrian and German art and design, opens all of its galleries again on November 12, 2026, following a construction project. The Upper East Side institution is known for its major Klimt works.
The reopening coincides with the 25th Anniversary Exhibition, a celebration of the museum, which was founded in 2001. The show will be on view from November 12, 2026, through January 11, 2027.
Café Sabarsky, the museum's ground-floor café, has already reopened. Modeled on the great Viennese cafés of 20th-century Austria, it serves a modern take on Austrian culinary heritage under Executive Chef Christopher Engel. The Book Store and Design Shop carry specialized publications and objects by contemporary designers, and every purchase supports the museum.
The museum is at 1048 Fifth Avenue, at 86th Street. It is open Wednesday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed Tuesday. Visitors can choose self-guided digital tours or private tours, and on select Friday evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. the First Fridays program offers free admission. Members receive complimentary unlimited yearly admission.
With Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art close by, the reopening gives museum-goers an easy addition to a fall or winter day on Museum Mile. Tickets are sold through the museum's website.
