Peggy Cooper Cafritz (1947–2018), a patron, educator and civil rights activist, left more than 400 works by over 200 artists of African descent to the Studio Museum. This show draws a small portion of that bequest into a portrait of her as a collector, spanning paintings, photographs, sculpture, textiles and works on paper. It includes Kerry James Marshall, Simone Leigh and Wangechi Mutu, many of them collected early in their careers. The exhibition runs through February 28, 2027.
