Bottega Veneta is releasing a capsule collection with Moomin, the characters created by Finnish author and artist Tove Jansson. It pairs the house's luxury leather craft with one of children's literature's best-loved worlds.

The core of the collection is two bags built in the brand's signature Intrecciato weave: the Andiamo and the Campana. They come with striped apron styling, a nod to the storybook look, so the characters' world is carried into the design of the bags themselves.

Smaller pieces include Intrecciato Moomin charms, made to hang from a bag and add a playful touch to the range. The capsule also features pieces stamped with comic artwork from the original Moomin stories.

Timing differs by region. The capsule launches first in Japan on November 11, then in the rest of the world on November 18, which puts New York shoppers one week behind Japan. Moomin has a devoted following in Japan across generations, so the collaboration will likely draw particular interest from Japanese New Yorkers.

Full details on the pieces are on Bottega Veneta's Moomin capsule page.
