COMME des GARÇONS Guerrilla Store Returns in Fukuoka's Yakuin With 16 Labels and Archive Pieces

COMME des GARÇONS is bringing back its Guerrilla Store concept in Fukuoka, Japan. The shop opens Tuesday, October 27, 2026 in the Yakuin district and is scheduled to run through mid-December. To be clear, this is a Japan opening, not a New York one.

Guerrilla Store was a project Rei Kawakubo's label ran from 2004 to 2009, at a time when "pop-up" was not yet a common retail term. It took over derelict or abandoned buildings in cities including Singapore, Berlin and Barcelona and sold archive pieces there. The fan site CDG FREAK adds Warsaw, Hong Kong and Stockholm to the list and says the interiors kept the previous tenant's walls, signage and floor scars, a approach that became a template for later pop-ups. A Guerrilla Store also appeared in Tokyo's Omotesando in May 2021.

The Fukuoka location is in the Taiko Building, 2-16-14 Yakuin, Chuo-ku. The ground floor carries 16 labels, among them COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT, PLAY COMME des GARÇONS, noir kei ninomiya and JUNYA WATANABE. Upstairs, shoppers will find COMME des GARÇONS, COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS, BLACK COMME des GARÇONS and COMME des GARÇONS GIRL, along with archive editions of past limited-run products sold at special prices. The store also stocks many items made only for this location; images published by CDG FREAK show shirts, T-shirts, sweatshirts and bags printed with "GUERRILLA Store FUKUOKA 2026."
