Gorsch, a Japanese label based in Iwate prefecture, has released its Fall/Winter 2026 collection, The Dancing People. The designer is Eiichi Suzuki, who works between antique workwear and tailoring and cuts clothes for everyday comfort rather than period costume. The pieces are unisex, and Hypebeast describes the collection as closing the second chapter of the label's 14th season.

The idea comes from movement. Ken Sakagami and Aoi Kagaya, dancers who perform with Bazar Cirque in Iwate, are friends of the brand. They inspired the collection and wear it in photographs by Atsushi Meguro. That shows in the clothes: dense but soft fabrics, generous proportions and a drape that swings with the body and hangs straight when the wearer stands still.

Two pieces lead the line. The first is a black flannel wool cape coat, the centerpiece of the outerwear. The second is a denim set dyed with kakishibu, a dye made from fermented persimmon tannin. It pairs a short jacket with matching two-tuck trousers, so the dye shows across the whole outfit. Gessato notes that the persimmon tone is meant to develop as the indigo fades, which means the denim changes with wear.

The collection also includes a wide shirt in off-white linen and wool.

Standard & Strange, the Berkeley-founded shop known for Japanese and American heritage brands, carries a selection from The Dancing People. According to Hypebeast, it is sold at the store's New York, Berkeley and Santa Fe locations and through its online shop. Gorsch also has its own brand page on the Standard & Strange website, so shoppers in the US can buy a small Iwate label without going through a Japanese retailer.
