Nike Air Force 1 Mid '07 GORE-TEX Vibram in Wheat: A Rain-Ready AF1 for NYC Winters, $180
Nike has put a GORE-TEX membrane and a Vibram outsole into the Air Force 1 Mid. The Wheat/Total Orange/Black pair, in caramel leather with black and orange accents, went on sale October 15 on Nike's website for $180.

Nike has released the Air Force 1 Mid '07 GORE-TEX Vibram, a version of the classic built for bad weather. The Wheat/Total Orange/Black colorway went on sale October 15. Nike's product page describes it as an AF1 made for the months when rain, sleet and snow arrive.

The upper is full-grain leather in a caramel tone. Nike says this leather is durable and ages gracefully. Black details and flashes of orange complete the colorway. Highsnobiety describes the look as a pair of favorite Forces that have spent a little too much time outdoors, and says it suits them.

The weather protection comes from two partners. GORE-TEX is a waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane that keeps wet elements out. The outsole is by Vibram, which Nike credits with adding traction and durability. Highsnobiety frames the pairing as insurance for slippery sidewalks, with better styling than a typical hiking boot.

The mid-top cut gives the familiar AF1 shape a more substantial, boot-like feel, according to Highsnobiety. The rest of the specification is classic Air Force 1: Nike Air technology that absorbs impact, a padded collar, a foam midsole and a hook-and-loop closure.

The shoe costs $180 and is sold on Nike's website under style code IO1875-700. Nike Members get free standard shipping on orders of $50 or more and free 60-day returns, with return policy exclusions applying. Pick-up is available at select Nike stores. Highsnobiety's coverage of the shoe is a sponsored story paid for by an advertiser.
