Nike's Waterproof Air Force 1 Low GORE-TEX Vibram "Thunder Blue" Arrives for Winter, a Pick for NYC Rain and Slush
Nike's winter Air Force 1 Low adds a GORE-TEX waterproof membrane and Vibram outsole. The Thunder Blue pair pairs dark blue leather with yellow accents and costs S$259 (about $202) at Nike Singapore.

Nike is giving its staple Air Force 1 Low a winter overhaul with the Air Force 1 GORE-TEX Vibram, released October 26. The pair in focus is Thunder Blue (style HV5953-400), a dark blue colorway set off by Speed Yellow, Racer Blue and Obsidian, with yellow badge accents.
The upper is all leather, layered over a waterproof GORE-TEX membrane meant to protect against rain, sleet and snow. Underneath sits a Vibram outsole, built to add traction and durability on wet, slippery and cold surfaces. A padded collar rounds out the details, and the shoe is made in Vietnam. The same model is also offered in a Summit White colorway and a Baroque Brown one.
At Nike Singapore the shoe costs S$259, about $202, and it is excluded from site promotions and discounts. It is sold at select overseas Nike stores and on the Nike Singapore website.
New York winters mean slush, curbside puddles and salted sidewalks, which is hard on any pair of white or light sneakers. A familiar AF1 shape that is built for bad weather will appeal to anyone who walks to work or around the city in the cold. No New York release has been listed for this pair.
