Japanese label NEEDLES has teamed up with Oregon-rooted wool maker Pendleton for the first time, producing a six-piece capsule collection. The pieces are made from Pendleton plaids and wool, and the line is sold through Nepenthes stores and the Nepenthes online store.
The six looks are a boxy plaid shirt, a jacket with leather elbows, a coat in an archival print, plaid trousers, a mohair sweater, and a lined Cowichan knit. On the online store, the Cowichan Sweater is listed at ¥104,500, the Shawl Collar Coat in wool plaid melton at ¥170,500, the Pen Jacket in wool plaid at ¥82,500, and the H.D. Pant in wool plaid at ¥56,100.
The Cowichan Sweater appears in off-white, the Pen Jacket in a yellow-toned plaid, the H.D. Pant in a red-toned plaid, and the Shawl Collar Coat in a blue-toned melton. Pendleton's familiar patterns are cut through NEEDLES' own pattern-making.
Nepenthes also carries Engineered Garments, the New York-founded label, along with South2 West8 and others. For New Yorkers looking for cold-weather pieces that pair American fabric with Japanese construction, this collaboration is one to watch.
