Jun Takahashi's Japanese label UNDERCOVER has released a collaboration with Studio Valentin Loellmann, an art-furniture studio based in Maastricht, the Netherlands, founded by Valentin Loellmann. The collection is built around the studio's own craftspeople and the clothes they work in.
The pieces follow the logic of workwear. Tops are cut from cotton duck, with reinforced knees on the work-oriented garments. The label's online listing also includes a work blouson with a duck liner, finished with a stone-washed, garment-dyed treatment, priced at ¥238,700.
The standout is a reversible MA-1 printed all over with Loellmann's artwork. The listing describes it as a cotton and nylon (CORDURA) construction, also at ¥238,700. Hoodies and tees round out the lineup, including a hoodie with pigment and bleach damage effects at ¥115,940.
The collaboration has its own page on UNDERCOVER's official site, with 11 items in total. Some pieces already show as sold out, and the site lists men's, women's and unisex options.
For New Yorkers who follow Japanese labels, the appeal is a familiar one: a practical workwear template, carrying the hand of furniture makers and an artist's graphics. It is a possible pick for cold-weather layering. The collection is sold through UNDERCOVER's online store.
