New Balance's chunky 2010 runner now comes with a waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX membrane, and the Field Green version is on the Sneakersnstuff website. In the product photos it reads as nearly black: dark grey mesh, black suede overlays, a large N logo on the side and a heavy black sole with a visible cushioning unit.

The upper layers suede, textile and synthetic materials in a running-inspired build. ABZORB cushioning sits in the midsole, Stability Web supports the midfoot, and the outsole is rubber, with a standard lace-up closure. The retailer describes it as leaning outdoorsy without looking like gear for a three-day hike.

It's listed at £160 (about $214), excluded from promotions, in unisex sizing from US 7.5 to 13. A Mushroom colorway also exists. The page is the retailer's UK storefront: UK shipping runs £5–7, with free delivery on orders over £200, and returns are accepted within 30 days.

For New Yorkers heading into the wet months of fall and winter, a dark, low-key waterproof pair that still looks like a regular sneaker is a practical option to put on the list.
