The key design choice is what's missing: the usual overlays. The upper is built from mostly black leather, with stitched details adding structure. Perforated leather on the eyestays and heel gives the all-black look some texture without introducing another color.
The midsole is a black Air unit, and the Air window carries a faint blue tint. Against a triple-black build, that subtle hint of blue is the one detail that stands out.
The Air Max 90 is Tinker Hatfield's 1990 design. It keeps its early running roots through the Waffle-style sole and visible Max Air cushioning. Nike describes this release as a sleek remastering of that original. The Air Max line itself dates to 1987, when visible Air first appeared.
