NYC Sneaker Pick: Nike Lahar Low in Black, a Hiking-Boot Throwback for $140
Nike's Lahar Low arrives in a black colorway with orange and smoke-grey accents. Drawing on the 1989 Lahar Escape Boot, it pairs heavy-duty leather with chunky round laces and a rugged tread. It costs $140 and is on sale now at Nike.com.

Nike has added an all-black take on the Lahar Low, a women's shoe that borrows its looks from hiking boots. The colorway is listed as Black/Orange/Black/Dark Smoke Grey, style DB9953-001. It costs $140 and is available now on Nike.com.
The design traces back to the 1989 Lahar Escape Boot. The upper is made from thick, heavy-duty pig leather with suede mixed in, and metal eyelets give it a more polished look. Underneath sits a solid rubber outsole with a deep tread, meant to grip on a range of surfaces.
The laces stand out most. They are 5mm round cords with a speckled finish, thick enough to grab easily with gloved hands. A webbing pull tab sits at the heel, and a foam insole adds cushioning for long days on your feet.
The shoe fits small, and Nike recommends going up half a size. As New York moves into colder, wetter months, a rugged low-cut shoe like this suits a lot of walking in the city.
Nike.com offers free standard shipping on orders of $50 or more, and Nike Members get free 60-day returns. Pickup is available at select Nike stores.
