NYC Sneaker Watch: Nike Air Max 95 Big Bubble GORE-TEX in Camo Green

Nike has added a third waterproof colorway to its Air Max 95 Big Bubble GORE-TEX line. Called Camo Green, it pairs a dark military green with black, a palette well suited to the cold months. The pair is already turning up at some overseas retailers, and a Nike.com release is expected soon.

The Big Bubble edition keeps the original 1995 design but stacks the upper with rippling layers of synthetic leather and mesh. This version adds a waterproof GORE-TEX finish meant to keep feet dry in rain, sleet and snow. Nike lists it as a men's winterized shoe.

Construction is straightforward: a synthetic leather and mesh upper, a foam midsole and a rubber outsole. Visible Max Air cushioning provides lightweight cushioning, and flex grooves in the midsole and outsole help with movement. Nike notes the anatomical concept behind the design: the midsole and outsole stand for the spine, the upper panels for muscles and the laces for ribs.

The full colorway name is Camo Green/Black/Metallic Dark Grey/Neutral Olive, style IO1877-300. On Nike's UK site it is priced at £189.99 and excluded from site promotions and discounts.

For New Yorkers facing wet, slushy winters, it offers the familiar Air Max 95 silhouette with weather protection built in. The pair is expected to appear in the men's new arrivals on Nike.com.
