NYC Sneaker Watch: Vans Premium Classic Slip-On 98 Arrives in Corduroy
Vans' Premium Classic Slip-On 98 now comes in corduroy, in black and bordeaux, with a worn-in finish. It sells on Billy's online shop in Tokyo for ¥13,750 (about $86) and is available now.

Vans has added a corduroy version to its Premium Classic Slip-On 98 line, and it is on sale now through the online shop of Billy's, a Tokyo retailer.
The Style 98 debuted in 1979 and was taken up by BMX riders and skaters in Southern California. Within a few years it had gone from a symbol of rebellion, independence and youth to a staple of fashion, music and film. This pair keeps that silhouette and changes the materials and finishing.
The upper is corduroy, treated to look worn in, with a paint-splatter or scuffed finish. The wear differs from pair to pair and even between the left and right shoe, so no two look exactly alike. The insole uses SOLA foam ADC with 30% bio-based material, built for comfortable wear. The Premium line pairs Vans' iconic shapes with richer materials and design details.
It comes in black and bordeaux for ¥13,750 including tax, about $86. Sizes run from 25 cm to 30 cm (US 7 to 12). The upper is synthetic fiber, and the shoes are made in China. Billy's accepts returns on unused pairs with the box and accessories, after indoor try-on only, with some exceptions.
Corduroy suits the colder months, and the bordeaux in particular gives a familiar slip-on some seasonal color.
