Patek Philippe has introduced six Gondolo Ladies First watches, a new chapter in its women's jewelry watches. The collection is a modern, more colorful reinterpretation of the Manufacture's 2009 Ladies First Chronograph, pairing square and round forms in a style the brand describes as modern yet retro.
The cases are cushion-shaped, with rounded contours and articulated lugs meant to make them comfortable on the wrist. Diamonds on the flange and the concentric dial pattern are set with the grain-setting technique, which is almost invisible to the naked eye, and the prong buckle carries 23 diamonds. All six run on quartz movements, which Patek says are built to the same standard as its manual and automatic calibers.
Three models keep to polished gold and opaline dials. Ref. 7043G is white gold with a blue-gray dial and a denim-patterned strap. Ref. 7043R is rose gold with a chestnut dial and strap. Ref. 7043GR combines white and rose gold with a silvery dial.
The other three are the Joaillerie versions, with diamonds covering the case sides, lugs and gold prong buckles. Ref. 7043/250GR uses amethyst hour markers, 7043/250R uses green tsavorite, and 7043/250G uses blue topaz on an alligator strap, each with a matching strap color. All gemsetting is done in the Manufacture's own ateliers, under special microscopes.
The launch comes with the "I AM. I WEAR." campaign, a short film directed by Mona Fastvold and Brady Corbet that celebrates the quiet confidence of women who know what they want. The watches are available through Patek Philippe boutiques, including in New York.
