Timberland and Jacquemus have given the Authentic Boat Shoe a crocodile-inspired makeover. Timberland first introduced the silhouette in 1978, and this release, which went on sale October 15, is a limited-edition pair in two colorways: Brown Croc and Navy Croc.
The upper is embossed Premium Timberland leather. Sneakerjagers notes the texture only mimics exotic reptile skin, so it is not real crocodile. The three eyelets that give the model its other name, the 3-Eye Classic Lug, stay in place. Underneath sits a rugged rubber lug outsole, with a soft leather lining and a padded collar inside. Sneakerjagers adds that the EVA footbed is three-quarters covered in leather and that the laces are 100% recycled PET.
Branding is kept quiet: a tonal tree logo and aglets carrying both brands' marks. With so little contrast between parts, the embossing carries the design. In a press statement quoted by Complex, the brands describe the collaboration as a meeting of rugged heritage and playful sophistication.
This is the third time Jacquemus has taken on the model. The first version arrived in pale yellow leather in April 2025 for the French label's fifteenth anniversary, and a light blue "Le Bonheur" pair, inspired by Art Deco architecture and 1980s Memphis design, followed this summer. Founder Simon Porte Jacquemus, who started the label in 2009, regularly wears the boat shoe himself.
The shoe costs $320 in the US. Complex reports it is sold on the Jacquemus and Timberland US websites, plus select retailers and wholesale partners worldwide, which puts it within reach of New York shoppers online. For readers with Japan ties, FashionSnap reports that Timberland Boutique Tokyo in Daikanyama began carrying both colors on October 17 at ¥52,800 each.
