New York artist Tom Sachs has added a new version to the General Purpose Shoe, his ongoing NikeCraft project. It is called "Demerits," and it is sold online at nikecraft.com.

Sachs has introduced it on Instagram several times. His first post, on September 23, simply said the NikeCraft General Purpose Shoe (Demerits) was available now on nikecraft.com, with photography credited to Quinn Whipps. On September 29 he posted again, framing the release as his own "demerits story" and asking followers to share theirs in the comments. That post said the shoe was available on nikecraft.com and would be available globally the next day, September 30, 2026. On October 11 he shared the shoe once more, again pointing to nikecraft.com.

The Demerits release sits within a steady run of General Purpose Shoe drops. In April, a Bricolage colorway went on sale to the general public on April 8 at 9 a.m. EDT through store.tomsachs.com. Holders of the I.S.R.U. Winter Semester Completion Badge had early access through the I.S.R.U. app the day before. On July 31, NikeCraft announced that all General Purpose Participation Shoe orders had shipped, signing off with the line "Participation is a form of excellence."

Demerits is sold through nikecraft.com. It will interest sneaker collectors, and it should also interest readers who follow Sachs as a contemporary artist, including those in Japan. More of his work is presented at tomsachs.com.
