Wales Bonner x adidas BW Army Goes Pony Hair: An NYC Sneaker Watch for Holiday 2026
Wales Bonner and adidas bring the BW Army trainer into their partnership for the first time, in Black Pony and Khaki Pony. Both use pony hair and glossy textured leather, and they sit within a five-sneaker Holiday 2026 collection due on adidas' website.
Wales Bonner and adidas have taken on the BW Army for the first time. The partnership dates to 2020, and the trainer, which began in the 1980s as a shoe for the German army (the Bundeswehr), is new to it. Highsnobiety reports two versions, one black and one khaki.
The materials are the point: pony hair and glossy, reptile-style textured leather. Per Sneakerjagers, the Black Pony (KK2813) is all black on a gum sole, while the Khaki Pony (KK2809) pairs a khaki finish with a burgundy lining that only shows when the shoe is worn. Pony hair is not new to the duo. In Fall/Winter 2023 they released a Samba with a leopard print in a pony-hair look.
The BW Army was already a fashion-friendly shoe, with in-line releases and collaborations with Hartcopy and the Whitaker Group behind it. Wales Bonner now pushes that quietly tasteful build into luxury territory.
The two BW Army pairs sit inside a Holiday 2026 collection of five sneakers across four models. The rest of the lineup: a Gazelle Suede Croc in "Green Night" (KK0735) with a dark green croc-textured upper, white Three Stripes and a gum sole; an Adizero Adios Suede in "Wonder White" (KK0774) in off-white suede with a bright blue lining and hand-finished stripes; and a Karintha Croc in "Dark Brown" (KK0733) in glossy brown croc-effect leather with gold-tone eyelets.
The collection is expected to drop during the holiday season on adidas' website. For New Yorkers, the US adidas.com Wales Bonner page is the place the press points to. Grace Wales Bonner is a British-Jamaican designer from South London who launched her label in 2014 and won the LVMH Prize in 2016. In October 2025, Hermès named her creative director of its menswear line.
