Balera, at 442 Graham Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is a pizza and pasta restaurant run by five Italian partners. Vinyl records and retro accents fill the room, and a disco ball sets a playful tone. The Michelin Guide has praised its thin, crispy pizzas, which it says are packed with flavor.

On weekends, DJs take over and dinner slides into a night out under the disco ball. Hours are Monday to Thursday 5:30 to 10 pm, Friday and Saturday 5:30 pm to 12:30 am, and Sunday 5 to 10 pm. Tables can be booked through the website, and online ordering and gift cards are available.

The events calendar is busy. On Friday, October 23, Tommaso Vergano, who now runs production at the Vergano family's vermouth house, tended the bar for a Chinati Vergano takeover, making special drinks with his products. On Wednesday, October 28, the restaurant hosts a wine dinner with Alessandro Salvano, the mind behind Drink Wines Not Labels, a Piedmont project.
Halloween brings a Roman Empire theme under the banner "SPQR": gladiators, emperors, Greek gods and Egyptian queens are all invited to dress up for one night. The restaurant has also announced that its T-shirts are back.
With pizza and pasta at its core, plus producer-led wine nights and costume parties, Balera suits anyone in Williamsburg who wants dinner and a night out in one stop.
