Apparatus, the New York design studio, has introduced AFSANEH, an incense developed with cinnamonprojects and announced on October 16. The name, written in Persian script as افسانه, evokes legend and story.
The scent is described as moonlight in a desert garden. Three materials make up the composition: damask rose, frankincense and oud. Expect a floral sweetness set against clear resinous smoke and a deeper, woody base. The studio frames it with a short note about a seed becoming a flower, a celebration of its dance with the sun and of a scent that is, however fleeting, a gift to breathe in.
Best known for lighting and furniture, Apparatus brings the same attention to atmosphere to the fragrance category here. The incense is already burning in New York and London, and it is available to order online through the link in the studio's Instagram profile.
It suits anyone who treats scent as part of how a room is put together. With cooler weather pushing more time indoors, the rose-and-oud pairing is a natural one to light at home.
