Bryant Park in Midtown is holding its annual Halloween party, Tricks and Treats, on Friday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 6pm at the Bank of America Winter Village. Admission is free and entry is first come, first served. The event is for kids of all ages and goes ahead weather permitting.

The program is staggered through the afternoon. On The Deck, magician Chris Capehart performs a magic show at 4pm, followed by a science show from Crazy Science at 5pm. Around Le Carrousel, face painting and pumpkin decorating start at 4pm, and an arts and crafts session begins at 4:30pm.

The park's carousel, Le Carrousel, gets a seasonal twist with a Headless Horseman theme. Rides cost $5 each.

Trick-or-treating is built into the evening. Visitors can pick up a free bag at the celebration and then collect treats at participating Holiday Shops between 4 and 6pm. Bags and candy are available while supplies last.

With fixed show times, families may want to plan arrival around the performances they most want to see. Costumes are a natural fit for a central Midtown outing just ahead of Halloween.
