Studio RENS, a design research studio focused on the applied investigation of colour and materials, now has work on view at The Future Perfect's New York gallery. The presentation was announced on October 23.

The studio was founded in 2008 by Renee Mennen and Stefanie van Keijsteren. Its practice joins a precise, almost mathematical approach to design research with hands-on material experiments and a keen eye for colour.

Studio RENS works across disciplines and in a variety of mediums. Its projects include collaborations, commissions and self-initiated work, so the range of pieces reflects a method rather than a single product type or style.

For visitors, the show offers a close look at how colour and material questions are tested and turned into finished objects. The gallery is on Great Jones Street in NoHo, an easy stop on a day of looking at design in downtown Manhattan.
