Brooklyn's Prospect Park Ice Skating Returns Oct. 31 at LeFrak Center at Lakeside

Public ice skating returns to the LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Brooklyn's Prospect Park on Oct. 31. The center has run a dual-rink facility in the park for more than a decade, and public sessions are open to skaters of all ages.

There are two rinks: a Covered Rink and an Open Air Rink. The open-air rink opens Nov. 15. Covered Rink daytime sessions run noon to 4:45 pm Monday through Thursday, noon to 5:15 pm Friday, and noon to 4:45 pm on weekends. Evening sessions are 6:30 to 8:50 pm on Friday and 8 to 9:50 pm on Saturday. The Open Air Rink skates daily from 9 am to 6 pm, plus 7 to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday. When both rinks are open, a bridge connects them.

Admission differs by payment method, with cash priced lower. Weekday daytime general admission is $10 cash or $10.30 by card; seniors 65 and older pay $8 cash or $8.24 by card, Monday through Friday. Mondays carry a $5 cash ($5.15 card) special, except Dec. 28 and Jan. 18, 2027. Evenings from 6 pm, weekends and holidays are $15 cash or $15.45 by card. Holiday pricing applies Nov. 11, Nov. 26–29, Dec. 24–Jan. 1 and Jan. 18. Skate rental is $10 cash or $10.29 by card.

Walk-ups are welcome, and sessions can also be reserved online. A few rules are worth knowing: a wristband is required for the ice and sales are final, with no refunds or transfers. Phones, cameras and bags can't be carried onto the ice, and photography is not allowed. Skaters must be 14 or older to buy admission and rentals, children 13 and under need a supervising adult 18 or older, and socks are required with rental skates.
