The 53rd annual Village Halloween Parade takes over Sixth Avenue in Greenwich Village tonight, Saturday, October 31, from 7 pm to 11 pm. The route runs from King Street up to West 15th Street, and the parade goes ahead rain, shine or wind.
Watching is free, and anyone in costume may join the march without registering. Marchers line up at Sixth Avenue and Canal Street between 6:30 and 9 pm. Paid tickets are also offered for special access.
This year's theme is Body & Soul, and the Year of the Horse sets the opening. A new puppet performance called Firehorse! leads the procession. The puppet was commissioned from Basil Twist, the MacArthur "Genius" grant–winning puppeteer. Julie Atlas Muz choreographed it, and Barbara Busackino of Tandem Otter Productions produced it. The dancing Firehorses clear the way for the thousands of costumed participants behind them.
Joey Arias is the 2026 Grand Marshal. The cabaret singer, jazz vocalist, drag performer and downtown fixture has toured internationally and appeared in Cirque du Soleil's Zu-manity. He is currently starring in Arias with a Twist at HERE Theater.
If you would rather watch from home, Spectrum News NY1 broadcasts the parade live from 8 pm. Afterward, the official Vampire Ball afterparty at Industry City opens its doors at 9 pm and runs until 5 am. It is for guests 21 and older. The parade is produced by Village Halloween Parade, Inc., a nonprofit arts organization supported in part by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
