On Saturday, October 17, NYC Parks held its free Williamsbridge Fall Fiesta at the Williamsbridge Oval Recreation Center in the Norwood section of the Bronx. The program ran from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The day packed in a full slate of autumn activities: pumpkin decorating, seasonal crafts, hands-on science projects and a pumpkin patch. It closed out with a dog costume parade, where costumed pups were the main attraction.

The official listing billed the event as "A Fall Fiesta: Where Memories Take Flight." It was tagged under arts and crafts, festivals, games, best for kids, dogs, Halloween, fall festivals and recreation center programming, and it also listed seniors as an audience. The instructor was Carmen Quarles.

The recreation center is at 3225 Reservoir Oval East in the Bronx. The contact number for the program was (718) 543-8672.

Held the weekend before Halloween season peaked, it was a neighborhood-scale, no-cost option for families and dog owners. It also showed how NYC Parks recreation centers use seasonal programming to bring pumpkins, crafts and costumes to local residents across the five boroughs.
