The Whitney Museum of American Art is throwing a costume party on Wednesday, October 28, from 7 to 10 pm. This special edition of Member Night celebrates the museum's current show, Roy Lichtenstein: Like New, and the artist's 103rd birthday.

The theme comes from a 1965 Halloween photo of Roy and Dorothy Lichtenstein dressed as Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick. Guests are encouraged to arrive as a favorite artist, artwork or inspiring icon. The museum rules out costumes that rely on cultural appropriation, discrimination or violence, and fake weapons are not allowed.

After hours, the galleries are open across the building: Coumba Samba: Stars and Stripes on Floor 1, Roy Lichtenstein: 1997 on Floor 3, Like New on Floor 5, "Untitled" (America) on Floor 7 and The Lost World: The Art of Minnie Evans on Floor 8. Mini tours run through the evening, including Learn to See Like New, a gallery talk led by Joan Tisch Teaching Fellow Caitlin Chan on the roots of Lichtenstein's visual language.

Master printers from the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop host a drop-in session in screen printing and pochoir, where visitors make a Lichtenstein-inspired tote bag to keep. In the Lobby, a jazz trio from Hire Juilliard Performers plays the big-band sound of Lichtenstein's working years.

Members can bring one guest, two people in all, with no reservation. They only need to show a membership card at the entrance. Non-members and larger groups can book guest tickets through the Whitney.
