The Whitney Museum marks Halloween on Saturday, Oct. 31 with a day built for all ages. Visitors are invited to come in art-inspired costumes and spend the day in the galleries and on the dance floor.

The centerpiece is Boogie Baby NYC: Family Halloween Dance Party, running 11 am to 5:30 pm. It is a daytime dance party for small dancers and the adults who love them, with space to show off costumes. The Maniac Pumpkin Carvers also return, this time with a special gourd.

From 11 am to 3 pm, the Halloween Open Studio lets families explore the galleries and make original artworks inspired by the current exhibition Roy Lichtenstein: Like New. The schedule is set up so children can do it all before heading out to trick-or-treat.

The museum has costume rules: no costumes that perpetuate cultural appropriation, discrimination or violence, and no fake weapons. The collection is suggested as a source of ideas. Accommodation details are on each event page, and questions can go to accessfeedback@whitney.org or (646) 666-5574.

Halloween week has more. On Wednesday, Oct. 28, members can attend the Pop Party costume night, and on Friday, Oct. 30, there are DJ sets by TYLERFROMWHERE and Lord Fascinator from 6 to 10 pm, plus a Teen Night from 4 to 7 pm.
