"Rembrandt and the Ancients," co-organized by The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Musée du Louvre, runs at The Met from November 7, 2027, to February 6, 2028, in the Tisch Galleries on the second floor of the Fifth Avenue building. Note the dates: the show opens in late 2027, not 2026.

The exhibition traces Rembrandt's long engagement with the history, art and literature of ancient Greece, Rome and the wider Mediterranean world, and how the painter absorbed those sources into his own work.

More than 125 works will be on view, including some 70 paintings, prints and drawings by Rembrandt himself, many of them shown in the United States for the first time. The Met calls it the museum's first major Rembrandt exhibition in more than 20 years. After New York, the show travels to Paris.
