Tonight in Williamsburg, NYC: Rally Reading Series Opens Its 10th Season Chapter at Pete's Candy Store

The Rally Reading Series, a monthly Brooklyn literary night now in its 10th season, holds its November installment tonight, Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7:00 p.m. at Pete's Candy Store in Williamsburg. The evening is scheduled to wrap up at 8:30 p.m., and admission is free.

Three writers are on the bill: Kevin Nguyen, E.Y. Zhao and Aurora Huiza. Ryan D. Matthews hosts. The series bills its programs as evenings of art and activism, and the format pairs readings with discussion, so the audience can put questions, comments and reactions directly to the authors.

The Rally gathers on the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. Earlier editions this year have included a night devoted to comics and graphic novels, a Pride Night, and a program on reproductive and economic justice, each with a rotating slate of three readers. The 2025 lineup likewise included a playwright night.

Pete's Candy Store sits at 709 Lorimer St. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. With a 7 p.m. start and a roughly 90-minute program, it works as an easy after-work plan for anyone looking for a literary evening tonight.
