The Urbanworld Film Festival ran from October 14 to 18, 2026, centered on Regal Union Square in Manhattan. It was the festival's 30th edition, and the organizers framed the year under the banner "Road to 30."

The festival is the signature initiative of the Urbanworld Foundation Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to advance the presence and impact of the multicultural community in cinema and cross-platform media. Its Innovation Summit sits alongside the festival under the same umbrella. The official program was built around premieres and screenings, filmmaker networking, and parties and events. HBO is listed as founding partner and Warner Bros. Discovery as prestige partner.
Two Spotlight Films, both free to attend at Regal Union Square, were scheduled for Saturday, October 17. At 4:00 PM ET, Forests of the First Stewards had its East Coast premiere. The documentary follows the Menominee Nation's sustainable forestry, from ancient traditions to present-day stewardship. At 5:45 PM ET came Tulsa King, with actor Jay Will on hand to meet the audience. The series follows Dwight "The General" Manfredi, who is sent to Tulsa after 25 years in prison and assembles an unlikely crew. Tickets were handled through the festival's Eventive page.
The festival's site carries a line from Lisa Cortés, president of Cortés Filmworks, who said no other festival has furthered the community the way Urbanworld has, and that it is about access. Alumni featured on its site include Ava DuVernay and Nelson George, a reminder of the festival's role as a showcase for independent filmmakers.
The festival closed on Sunday, October 18.
