Pierre Soulages: Paintings on Paper
On view · Sep 17 – Oct 24
This exhibition gathers more than twenty works on paper by the French painter Pierre Soulages, most of them never shown before. Made with walnut stain, gouache and ink, they reveal how paper, his earliest support, let him work quickly and without revision, sometimes ahead of his oil paintings. Organized with the artist's widow, Colette Soulages, it offers a focused look at a less familiar side of his practice.
